Projects

I’ve done a fair number of things. Here’s a few:

Grants

People like me, it seems!

  • Google Summer of Code 2005: In mid-2005 I was invited to participate in the first Summer of Code, and received a grant to work on an implementation of encrypted folders for the Nautilus file manager. The ideas behind this project went on to become my company’s first product, Secret.
  • AUC Development Seeding Grant 2008: The Apple University Consortium, an Apple-financed education group, gave me a grant to work on a rather interesting product called Machine. Look for more news on this in early 2009.
  • AUC Honours Scholarship 2008: In August, the Apple University Consortium gave me a scholarship to assist with my honours degree.

Games

Game design and development is a real passion of mine, and sometimes I indulge it. Interesting things result.

  • Side-Game: In 2007, I and 6 other developers and artists developed a 3D sidescroller game for OS X and Windows called Side-Game. Side-Game will be released as a free download later this year.
  • Stompy Robots: One of my experiments with Ruby and game development. Stompy Robots is a simple top-down shooter, and the source code is available at Google Code.

Products

I earn my coins by selling beautifully crafted ones and zeros.

  • Culture: Culture is a brilliantly addictive puzzle/strategy game for the iPhone. Swarm your spores over the board and capture the culture, before your opponent does! Now available on the iTunes App Store!
  • Secret: Secret is a revolutionary encryption app for OS X Leopard, featuring a breathtakingly simple interface - drag files on, drag files off, and they’re encrypted.
